Welcome to Monkstown Park Junior School.
Situated in the heart of Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, our school caters for boys and girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We have a full and varied curriculum that brings out the best in every child. Our small class numbers allow us to promote a creative child-led environment within our classrooms, where the topics being studied are developed by the children in partnership with the teaching staff across a range of curriculum subjects.
As part of our long-established House system, each child within the school is assigned to one of the four House Teams where the children regularly work with their teammates on group projects. Project work encourages the children to work collaboratively with each other and with their teachers to investigate real life scenarios.
We are lucky to be situated on a large campus and our pupils are taken into their environment to explore curriculum subjects from a different point of view. Through this approach the children understand that topics being studied can be found all around them in their everyday lives and not just within the classroom. This style of teaching helps our students become independent learners and develop life-long skills that can be used across the curriculum but also throughout their daily lives.
As our children journey through the school their natural talents are nurtured. they experience an environment of inclusiveness where all their achievements are valued and celebrated at our weekly assemblies. At Monkstown Park Junior School pupils, parents, staff and the governing body work collaboratively to foster a climate of trust that motivates and encourages, helping all of us achieve our collective goals. This practice of openness and inclusiveness reflects the strong educational and moral values within our school.
We would encourage you to make an appointment to view our school and experience the unique experiences Monkstown Park Junior School has to offer.
Our school has a dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (or STEM) suite. The aims and objective of the national curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths have many common themes and the teachers use the STEM suite to teach these subjects in an integrated programme.
