In addition to fully equipped classrooms, we provide a dedicated Music Room, Computer Room and Library and enjoy shared access to a Gymnasium and Concert Hall.
While the core subjects are taught by the class teachers, specialist teachers are employed to teach Drama, Music, Keep Fit and Computer Studies.
The School also employs a Resource Teacher who provides a limited amount of learning support.
Swimming takes place in the Monkstown Pool and Leisure Centre during school hours. Instruction from qualified coaches begins in Junior Infants and continues to Sixth Class.
There is a very active tradition of music in Monkstown Park Junior School. The sound of drums, guitars and piano, to name but a few, can be heard wafting from the music room at various stages during the day.
There is a strong drama tradition within the school with regular concerts in which the children participate. The Irish board of Speech and Drama holds annual examinations in the college itself.
Children are introduced to computers at an early age with simple programs designed to help learn basic reading and maths skills, progressing from Junior Infants through to more complicated programs up to Sixth Class where they become familiar with the Senior School computer system.
