An Update From the Virtual Classroom
3rd and 4th Class News

Since the announcement that schools must close the entire fabric of our class was forced to change. Rather than working together in the halls of Monkstown Park, we now communicate online through our devices. Everyone has had to rally and scramble to find their feet, but have done so incredibly well. It is as though the students and parents have taken on the the motto -“Certa Bonum Certamen” (Fight the Good Fight) and have risen to the challenge with courage.

We have been meeting for Zoom classes from the comfort of our own homes for the last few weeks. This has been a lovely opportunity for children to catch up and share the work they have been doing. One thing that has become evident over this period is the children’s ability to adapt. Having started this time period with little experience using Powerpoint, the class have now turned into complete pros! Some of the projects I’ve received, from Amazonian wild animals and important inventions to the interesting histories of different countries, have been at a level above and beyond what I would expect from these year groups. The children are all so proud to present their projects every Friday, and so they should be!

I cannot stress enough how impressed I have been with the effort from parents and students from our class and how well they have adapted to these challenging times – it has been heroic! I have received some great pictures of the students working away from home. These are a real pick me up in these challenging times.
