3rd and 4th Class News

A lot has happened since we came back from our Christmas holidays. We hit the ground running with our project work upon returning. The boys and girls of Third and Fourth class created some wonderful projects about Vikings and Normans. Every class member got an opportunity to present their completed projects to the class and were asked questions by their class mates. It was clear from these presentations that a lot of hard work had gone in at home, as they were of such a high standard.

Our first topic we covered in maths when we returned was measurement. The class had great fun measuring different things in the school and in the forest. They even measured our very own Mr. Flood. The class love hands on learning and we are lucky to have such great grounds that allow engagement in outdoor learning.

We have also been working on our drama 'The Monks Coming to Monkstown'. The story details the true story of monks escaping Viking raiders off Skerries who came to Carrickbrennan seeking refuge. We have been having great fun improvising our lines and have begun building our props. This is something we are greatly looking forward to!
