This month in 3rd class, we started a really cool project learning about the Egyptians; in art, we created our own pharaoh headdress using a photograph of our head and then made the headdress from vibrating colours.
The students wrote their names using Egyptian letters, and we Mummified a carrot. Using baking powder and salt. The carrots were left for two weeks, each day ensuring each carrot was fully covered with the mixture. This process removed all the moisture, leaving the carrot soft and bendable. Once the two weeks were finished, the carrots were bandaged and laid to rest in their tomb. Each table got to team up to produce their own Egyptian scene using lego and paper creations and talk about their projects with their classmates
At the beginning of December, we walked down to the Lexicon to watch the fantastic Science show with Mark from the RTE junior show ‘Let’s Find Out. The children got to watch and take part in lots of fun experiments.
Well done to Alexandru on the piano and Oisin on the drums for their great performance in assembly.
We had a day where everything was frozen outside, and all the pupils were extremely curious, so we went on a Frozen exploration walk.
We had the pleasure of having Jenny come from chimes to teach us sign language. It was great seeing how fast the students learnt how to sign. so fast and develop conversations in a matter of days by practising.
Carry on the tradition we wrote and posted our Santa letter's.
The 3rd class students rocked their Christmas carol songs, singing The Holly and the Ivy and Santa Claus is Coming To Town
