March Month of Many Weathers

March In First Class
March Month of Many Weathers

We’ve had all kinds of weather, but First Class have had an action-packed March! A lot of activities have started back this term. Together with Senior Infants and Second Class, we stroll to Blue Pool each Monday afternoon for swimming lessons.

Assembly returned on Book Day. We all dressed up as characters from favourite books, and brought a book along. Charlie received his MS Readathon certificate and prize, for reading a lot of books.

Sixth class organised a charity event for Ukraine. We dressed in the colours of the Ukraine flag, and the whole school went on a parade through the grounds and around the nearby streets.

March 16th saw the celebration of Lá Glas. We learned the story of St. Patrick’s fire. We all dressed in green. Mums Freya and Moira arrived at the door with a tray of goodies. They spoke about Lá Glas , then joined in with our Irish dancing. In the afternoon the children went on a parade with the rest of the school.

During English lessons we have focused on reading comprehension. Maths has seen us work on the idea of capacity. An Teilifís has been our subject in Irish. In SESE we have been out around the school grounds studying dandelions.

Mother’s Day took place last weekend. Everyone in the class made a card and took home a jar of flowers for their Mother. First Class Mums also received a Mother’s Day poem on that special day.

Luke’s recent trip to the Van Gogh museum inspired us to study and paint his famous sunflowers.

Two boys had their birthdays during March – Robert and George – goodies all-round!
