November in 1st class

This month we have focused on fun ways to learn our spellings. We used the new snap cubes from the Resource Room to break up words. We also used shaving foam to trace out the spellings. Every pupil got 10 out of 10 – which was a great result!

Science Week was held this month. Our theme was gravity. Through some experiments we learned about the centre of gravity. On the last day of Science Week, everyone presented their gravity project.

Another fun day in November was ‘GAEILGE 24’. We all got to speak Irish for the day. After our lessons, in the afternoon, the whole school met at the Astro to dance and sing in Irish with T-Rex the dinosaur. After that we all went on to the pitch and played some Irish games.Everyone was given a GAEILGE 24 t-shirt, and we took our sponsorship cards home the next day.

Jodie from Holy Child helped us with our traffic survey near the school gates, We were amazed to see how many different types of transport passed our school in only 30 minutes. Some of the people passing by beeped their horn to say hello to us!

On Mondays this month we started music class with Martin. We worked on the 1,2,3,4 beat with guitar and bells. We started practising for the Christmas Carols. We are setting up a Boy Band called Candy Cane which hopes to play next month at the Assembly – Simon Cowell…be there!

This month in Art class we painted ‘Winter Morning Sun’ pictures, toadstools and Advent wreaths.

Four pupils have been awarded pupil of the week in November – Xavier, Alex, Matteo and Mivaan.

Congratulations to them all.
