What an amazing week we had for Active Week and Well Being Week as part of the Active School Flag and Amber Flag Initiative at MPJS! The excitement was palpable as our students dove headfirst into an adventure of wellness, embracing activities that uplifted both the spirit and the body.
Our days were filled with vibrant 'Wake Up and Shake Up' sessions to greet the morning with enthusiasm. We started each day with refreshing morning runs, invigorating our bodies for the day ahead. Guided yoga sessions helped us centre ourselves and prepare for the day, while spontaneous 'Drop Everything and Dance' breaks kept the energy high and spirits lifted.
Crafting delicious, healthy smoothies became a highlight, nourishing ourselves with nutritious treats. Tranquil moments of yoga and meditation with John provided moments of peace and relaxation amidst the excitement. Spirited penalty shootouts pitted students against teachers in friendly competition, fostering camaraderie and teamwork.
In addition to the physical activities, we came together for a heartwarming cause as we watched the touching movie ‘Inside Out.’ It was more than just a movie viewing; it was a moment of community and empathy, as we raised funds for Pieta House, emphasizing our commitment to mental health and support.
A massive thank you to everyone involved for making the first half of Active Week and Well Being Week truly special. Let’s cherish the memories and keep this incredible energy going as we celebrate and cultivate our well-being together!
Throughout the week, we enjoyed a diverse range of activities, including football matches, dance parties, and mindfulness sessions. We explored various sports and activities such as badminton, skipping, and basketball, fostering a love for movement and physical activity.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the rugby match for our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th-year students in Cork. It was a thrilling experience, filled with teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.
As Active Week comes to a close, we reflect on the fun, movement, and active learning that filled our days. It was a week to remember, and we look forward to many more active adventures in the future!
