Swimming takes place in the Monkstown Blue Pool and Leisure Centre during school hours every Monday from 2.00pm-3.00pm. Swimming is an excellent form of low-impact cardiovascular exercise for the whole body. It is a life skill and we encourage all of our pupils to partake in the weekly lessons.
Instruction from qualified swimming teachers begins in Junior Infants and continues to 6th Class.
We have divided our pupils into two groups for the academic year which means that the pupils from 3rd - 6th Class will attend swimming lessons every Monday from September through to December and pupils from Junior Infants - 2nd Class will attend their swimming lessons from January until the end of the school year.
We round off our swimming lessons with a whole school swimming gala where each pupil has an opportunity to earn points for their House Team.
